43 Alumni for Biden

43 Alumni for Biden

In early June, the fine folks at Verified Strategy and I completed design on the new effort dubbed 43 ALUMNI FOR BIDEN. This super PAC refers to the 43rd U.S. president, George W. Bush and the former Vice President, Joe Biden.

I tend to stay away from overtly political design work, but this piece had the good fortune of being a bipartisan effort, comprised of former officials from the George W. Bush administration seeking to support former Vice President Joe Biden’s White House campaign.

The opportunity was a great exercise in presenting a clean, legible mark that evoked the Biden 2020 campaign, while standing on its own. The finished product is quite versatile, and will be used in multiple forms, from merchandise to video bumpers.

In the design, I was thrilled with the idea of playing with negative space, as well as the opportunities of combining the similarities between the number three and the letter B. Ultimately, I was able to find ways to include some of the iconic American imagery, such as stars and stripes, and vivid hues of red, white and blue.

You can find samples of my sketches and the final product below.

UPDATE (December 2020): At the conclusion of the campaign, the organization was renamed to 43 ALUMNI FOR AMERICA.
